If it weren't for cats, nothing would get done around here. Possibly I have snow sickness because all I want to do is wrap up in quilts and sleep. It wouldn't be fair to say I did nothing yesterday because I did some housework. You know it's bad, though, when quilting takes a back seat to housework. Sadie was there early to help out.
Pawssibly you need a black cat for your quilt?
Once I got started making more spiderwebs, my motivation increased.
I was having a frustrating problem with the top thread breaking every time I started sewing away from myself, moving the quilt toward me. It happened in the same way and at the same place every time. Changing the needle didn't help, and so I adjusted the top tension just a smidge. After that, the problem went away. It's a relief because that was going to drive me crazy. By day's end, I had five spiderwebs finished. If memory serves, there are 7 more whole squares and 12 half squares to do.
Part of what is holding me back with this quilt is deciding what to stitch in the nine-patches. Now I've made a decision, and I'm keeping it simple. There should be time to get a start on it this afternoon.
Before going upstairs to work on this yesterday, Smitty and I took a nap together. When I got up, I covered him up with the quilt. When I came back downstairs more than an hour later, he was still there. Napping is one of a cat's most important jobs.
Feeling fully refreshed, he took time out of his busy day to assert his alpha male dominance over Mike.
Sadie thinks this whole illusion he has about dominance is pretty silly, and so she just kept focused on the news.
It's impurrtant to keep abreast of current events.
At bedtime, it's the same ritual. Sadie at the bottom of the stairs, threatening to come up. Smitty at the top of the stairs entertaining the delusion that he has any control over Sadie's movements.
Today I'll be doing laundry, and I'll get out to do some grocery shopping. It has been raining steadily for at least 12 hours, and so I'm confident any remnants of snow have been washed away in the deluge. It's easy to love the snow here because it almost never lasts very long.
